DGN ZONAL ELECTIONS MARK HISTORIC MILESTONE

The Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), the premier organization for film and television directors in the country, recently held its first-ever zonal elections under the leadership of President Dr. Victor Okhai since her establishment in 1999. The DGN aims to foster development in the motion picture industry, focusing on export opportunities, youth employment, and national growth.
The zonal elections took place across multiple regions, including:
– Lagos Zone, Lagos State
– Benin Zone, Edo State
– Akwa-Cross Zone, Akwa Ibom State
– South Central Zone, Asaba, Delta State
– South-South Zone, Rivers State
– Abuja Zone, Federal Capital Territory
– South East Zone, Enugu State
Prominent members and directors participated in the voting process, including the President, Dr. Victor Okhai at the Lagos Zone, National Vice President, Mr. Uche Agbo at the South East Zone, and National Secretary, Mr. Perekeme Odon at the Lagos Zone. Other notable figures included National Provost, Mr. Daniel Chukwueze, National PRO, Mr. Jeremiah Onoge; National Treasurer Mazi Osita Okoli, National Director of Socials Mr. JP Nwanganga, and a founding member Amb. Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, Maccollins Chidebe (Mr China), a one time vice president
Despite some logistical delays in the delivery of election materials in some centers, the elections were conducted peacefully and fairly. All participating members expressed satisfaction with the outcomes, underscoring the Guild’s commitment to inclusive leadership.
The newly elected officials will be inaugurated shortly, marking a significant step in the DGN’s evolution as a key player in Nigeria’s creative sector.
