DGN President Hails Prince Daniel Aboki on Oscar Selection
Congratulations Prince Daniel Aboki, and your team on the landmark achievement of your film, MAI MARTABA, being selected as the 2024 Nigeria’s official Oscars submission contender for the International Feature Film (IFF) category at the 97th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) by the Academy’s voting membership.
This Oscar Award selection is a recognition of your talents and did not surprise us, given the amount of hard work you put into everything you do.
We’re filled with immense joy and pleasure because we have all witnessed how hard you work to achieve the best results with your extraordinary talent and directorial skills.
As the Vice President (North) of our creative guild, your dedication to being the best in your field has paid off. It is no mean feat to receive such an honour when the competition is neck-to-neck and the competitors are too good to be compared.
You’ve always been a winner in our hearts, but your current accomplishment has further strengthened our confidence in your abilities.
Historically, no Nigerian film has made either the longlist or shortlist of the International Feature Film category of the award. Genevive Nnaji’s ‘Lionheart’ and CJ Obasi’s ‘Mami Water’ only made the category’s submissions list in 2019 and 2024.
May God bless you and help you achieve many more achievements and accolades in your future career.
Yours faithfully,
Dr. Victor Okhai,
President
